AK-47 is nothing but the short form of the Russian “Avtomat Kalashnikova obraztsa 1947 goda” which means “kalashnikov’s automated rifle design for the year 1947”.This is the main assault weapon which is being used these years. This weapon was mainly designed by MIKHAIL KALASHNIKOV and was manufactured by IZHMASH. The weight of this weapon is 4.3 kg with empty magazine. The length of the gun is 34.3 inches with fixed wooden stock, 34.4 folding stock extended and 25.4 inches when the stock is folded. The length of the barrel is 415 mm. the rate of fire is 600 bullets per minute. The range is around 100-800 meters. This gun was officially brought into action by the Russian forces on 1949. Since then the production of this gun has been carried out in many other parts of the world like China, Bulgaria, India, Iran and other countries.
