Meiniere’s disease

Meniere’s disease is an ear disorder which causes vertigo and hearing impairment. This is caused due to the stretching of the endolymphatic compartment found in the inner ear. Head trauma and syphilis are known to cause this condition. The person having this disease suffers from a periodic vertigo, a feeling that the room is spinning, sensation of fullness of ear and also from tinnitus, a mild buzzing sound in the ear. The hearing impairment is mild at the starting stages and gets severe as the disease progress. Family’s medical history play an important role in diagnosis. Drugs to cure the symptoms, diet, avoiding the factors which aggravates the disease and physical and mental exercise are some of the ways to treat this disease. Surgery is done only in extreme cases.

Morphea Scleroderma

Scleroderma means hardening of skin. Morphea scleroderma is the localized scleroderma which affects only the skin and not the internal organs. The exact causes for this disease is not known but presence of excess collagen, a protein is considered to be a possible reason. Collagen is essentail for scarring that healing of wounds, and when it is found in excess it gets deposited on the skin, leading to thickening and hardening of skin. Skin rashs, muscle and joint pain and sometimes even high blood pressure is seen in person having scleroderma. It cannot be cured completely, however with proper medication it can be controlled. Aspirin,antacid, steroids, blood pressure medication, etc are used to treat this disease.
