Meiniere’s disease

This is caused due to the stretching of the endolymphatic compartment found in the inner ear. Head trauma and syphilis are known to cause this condition. The person having this disease suffers from a periodic vertigo, a feeling that the room is spinning, sensation of fullness of ear and also from tinnitus, a mild buzzing sound in the ear. The hearing impairment is mild at the starting stages and gets severe as the disease progress. Family’s medical history play an important role in diagnosis. Drugs to cure the symptoms, diet, avoiding the factors which aggravates the disease and physical and mental exercise are some of the ways to treat this disease. Surgery is done only in extreme cases.
